Texas Tech vs Gonzaga 3/30/19 - NCAA Tournament Picks & Predictions

The No. 3 seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders meet the No. 1 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on Saturday for an NCAA Tournament West Region Elite 8 showdown.

The Red Raiders defeated Michigan 63-44, as the nation’s top defense shut down the Wolverines offense. Jarrett Culver led the Red Raiders on offense with 22 points. Texas Tech held Michigan to just 16 points in the first half by clogging up the middle and making Michigan take jumpers from the outside.

Gonzaga reached the Elite 8 with a 72-58 win over Florida State on Thursday. The nation’s top scoring offense was held to just 72 points, but that was more than enough to beat the Seminoles. Rui Hachimura led the Bulldogs offense with 17 points, while Zach Norvell added 15 points. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Seminoles by nine, pulled down 13 offensive boards and scored 17 second-chance points. Jarrett Culver leads the Red Raiders in scoring, rebounding and assists with averages of 18.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Davide Moretti is the second leading scorer with an average of 11.6 points per game. Texas Tech is shooting 47.2% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point territory.

Rui Hachimura leads Gonzaga in scoring with an average of 19.6 points per game. Brandon Clarke is the second leading scorer and leader in rebounds with averages of 16.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Josh Perkins is leading the Bulldogs in assists with an average of 6.3 per game. Gonzaga is shooting 53.2% from the field and 36.5% from 3-point territory.

While the UNDER look strong here, the play is Texas Tech. The Red Raiders lead the nation in defense and will stifle the Gonzaga offense through clogging up the middle and not allowing the Bulldogs offense in the paint or second-chance points. Jarrett Culver will lead the offense for the Red Raiders to an Elite 8 upset. Final Score Prediction, Texas Tech Red Raiders win and cover ATS 69-67.
