The Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament will take place on Thursday in San Francisco, CA as the Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Duke Blue Devils. Texas Tech has gotten to the Sweet 16 following a six point win over Notre Dame on Sunday in the round of 32. Defensively Texas Tech stifled Notre Dame holding the Fighting Irish to 32.7% from the floor, while forcing 11 turnovers leading to the victory.
Offensively Texas Tech was mediocre making 35.6% of their shots to score 59 points in the game including 33 in the second half to extend a one point halftime lead. Kevin Obanor was the leader of the Texas Tech offense with 15 points and 15 rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor. Bryson Williams and Kevin McCullar chipped into the offense as well with 14 points apiece.
The Duke Blue Devils are riding high coming into the Sweet 16 after a win over Michigan State in South Carolina. Duke beat Michigan State 85-76 after shooting 57.1% from the floor and 38.5% from beyond the arc. Paolo Banchero led all scorers for Duke with 19 points and seven rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
Offensively this season Duke has five players averaging double figures as Paolo Banchero leads the team averaging 17 points per game to go along with a team high 7.9 rebounds. Wendell Moore Jr. is second on the team scoring 13.5 points per game to go along with a team high 4.6 assists and big man Mark Williams chips in 11.2 points per game on 74.3% shooting.
