The final game of the Thursday NCAA Tournament schedule will feature a matchup between the Texas Southern Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks from Dickies Arena. The 16th-seeded Tigers (19-12) lost seven straight games to begin the season before rebounding to win the SWAC Championship. On Tuesday, Texas Southern limited Texas A&M-CC to 37 percent shooting during a 76-67 victory.
Bryson Etienne led the Tigers with 21 points (9-9 FT) and five rebounds off the bench. The Texas Southern starting lineup combined for just 21 points on 10-for-28 from the field.
The Kansas Jayhawks are the top seed in the Midwest Region and are riding a five-game winning streak. On Saturday, Kansas outscored 14th ranked Texas Tech by eight points during the second half to pull away for a Big 12 Championship Final victory. The Jayhawks (28-6) converted 25-for-32 from the charity stripe and shot 43 percent from the field.
Senior C David McCormack led five Kansas players in double figures with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ochai Agbaji contributed 16 points and seven rebounds for the Jayhawks.
