The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will get underway on Tuesday night with a matchup between the Texas A&M-CC Islanders and the Texas Southern Tigers. The Islanders (23-11) is making their first tournament appearance in 15 years and rank 50th nationally in scoring (76.9 ppg). On Saturday, Texas A&M-CC limited SE Louisiana to 38 percent shooting during a 73-65 victory.
Terrion Murdix and Jalen Jackson scored 13 points apiece to lead Texas A&M-CC on a combined 10-for-21 from the field. Isaac Mushila added eight points and 12 rebounds for the Islanders.

The Texas Southern Tigers lost seven straight games to begin the season before rebounding to win the SWAC Championship. On Saturday, Texas Southern outscored top-seeded Alcorn State by 21 points during the second half to run away with an 87-62 victory. The Tigers (18-12) outrebounded the Braves by a 44-35 margin and shot a sizzling 56 percent from the field.
John Walker III led five Texas Southern players in double figures with 17 points in 20 minutes off the bench. P.J. Henry chipped in 15 points and five rebounds for the Tigers.
