Winless Tennesee Tech will be head to BB&T Arena to try to get an upset win over Northern Kentucky. Tennessee Tech was bashed by Xaiver yesterday falling 79-48 and dropping to 0-3 on the season, the Golden Eagles have challenged themselves early on with road trips to Indiana and Xaiver, both of who could end up playing in the NCAA tournament. Northern Kentucky got their season off to an emotional start with a late-game win over Ball State.

Northern Kentucky has played just one game but scored 74 points and had five players in double-figures. It was a good sign for the Norse who return just 38.4% of their scoring from last seasons’ team that finished second in the Horizon and won the conference tournament. A win that would end up being disappointing as the season was canceled.

Trevon Faulkner is back for the Norse after averaging 11.9 points per game and grabbed 4.1 rebounds per game. Gone are the two leading scorers with Dantez Walton and Tyler Sharpe who combined to averaged 31.2  and 9.9 rebounds per game last season.

Tennessee Tech is averaging just 56.5 points per game this season ranking 254th in scoring offense and shooting just 41.3% from the field. Sophomore guard Keishawn Davidson has been the key to the Golden Eagles offense averaging team-highs in points (14.5), rebounds (7), and assists (4.5) while shooting 45.8% from the field.

Northern Kentucky was great on the defensive end last season allowing just 65.3 points per game and ranking 64th in the country in scoring defense. This season they are allowing 73 points per game ranking 169th in scoring defense but will likely see regression this season rank 212th in KenPom adjusted defense. Tennesee Tech is allowing 75.5 points per game ranking 187th in scoring defense and rank 231st in KenPom adjusted defense.

Tennessee Tech has struggled to get anything going this season on both ends of the floor but especially has struggled on the offensive end averaging 56.5 points and ranking 339th in KenPom adjusted offense. Northern Kentucky should have no problems handling a bad Tennesee Tech offense. The Norse are coming off a last-second win and are going to make it back to back with a big win at home. Final score prediction, Northern Kentucky win and cover ATS 76-60.
