The Texas Tech Golden Eagles visit Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana to play the Indiana Hoosiers in the opening game of the college basketball regular season for both. Last season Tennessee Tech was 9-22 overall and 6-12 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles were victorious in four of their final seven games in the conference, which was a positive way to end the season for first-year head coach John Pelphrey.

Jr. Clay and Keishawn Davidson both return as the starting backcourt for the Golden Eagles. Clay was a second-team all Ohio Valley Conference selection in each of the last two seasons and last season was the leading scorer for Tennessee Tech averaging 13.4 points per game. Clay also averaged 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. Davidson was the leader in assists for the Golden Eagles with 4.44 game.

Indiana finished 20-12 overall a 9-11 in the Big Ten last season. The Hoosiers lost two scorers that averaged double figures, but four starters return and Indiana is expected to play in the Big Dance in March. The top returning players for Indiana include Tracye Jackson-Davis who scored an average of 13.5 points per game, Aljami Durham who scored an average of 9.8 points per game and Rob Phinisee who scored an average of 7.3 points per game. Four other players that averaged between 3.5 and 7.3 points per game also return for the Hoosiers.

Jackson-Davis played very well last season for Indiana as a freshman leading the Hoosiers in both scoring at 3.5 points per game and rebounding at 8.4 per game. Five freshmen join the Hoosiers led by five-star recruit Khristian Lander, who is a point guard that will get his teammates involved in the play before looking to score. The Hoosiers will have plenty of depth and will have plenty of time early in the season to find the best combinations on court.

Indiana is expected to compete for the Big Ten Conference title and will be facing an opponent to open its regular season that is far less talented than the Hoosiers. Indiana has four of its top six scorers from last season returning and has added a five-star freshman to the roster. Indiana has covered the number in five of its last seven overall. Tennessee Tech has a talented player in Jr. Clay, but the Golden Eagles lost 22 of 31 games straight up last season. Final Score Prediction, Indiana Hoosiers win and cover ATS 88-56.
