Two of the nation’s top five ranked teams faceoff on Saturday in an SEC showdown when the No. 1 ranked Tennessee Volunteers visit Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky to play the No. 5 ranked Kentucky Wildcats. Tennessee improved to 23-1 overall and 11-0 in SEC play following its 85-73 win over South Carolina. Admiral Schofield led the Volunteers with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Kentucky fell to 20-4 overall and 9-2 in SEC after losing to LSU 73-71 on a controversial tap-in at the buzzer that many consider was basketball interference. The tap-in beat the buzzer and basketball interference is not a reviewable call. Kentucky was led in the loss by PJ Washington with 20 points, while Keldon Johnson scored 16. Grant Williams leads Tennessee in scoring and rebounding with averages of 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Admiral Schofield is second on the Volunteers in scoring with an average of 16.7 points per game. Jordan Bone leads the team in assists with an average of 6.5 per game. Tennessee is shooting 51.5% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point territory.

PJ Washington is the leading scorer for Kentucky with an average of 14.4 points. Three other Wildcats are averaging double figures in scoring. Ashton Hagans leads the Wildcats in assists with an average of 4.4 per game. Washington is leading the Wildcats in rebounds with an average of 8.1 per game. Kentucky is shooting 47.5% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point territory.

This will be one of the weekend’s best matchups. The Volunteers have much more experience with Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield while Kentucky has a mix of experience and freshman in PJ Washington and Keldon Johnson. The Vols have covered the number in 8 of the last 11 versus Kentucky and 4 of the last 5 at Rupp Arena. Final Score Prediction, Kentucky Wildcats win but fall short ATS 72-70.
