The Temple Owls visit Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday to play the Wichita State Shockers. Temple fell to 10-3 on the season with a 78-73 loss to Central Florida. The Owls trailed most of the game but were to within three points with four minutes remaining, but then played 3:44 without a field goal to fall behind by eight points and could not make it up in time.
Wichita State fell to 7-6 after its 85-74 loss to Memphis. The Shockers were led by Markis McDuffie with 19 points, while Samajae Haynes-Jones scored 15 and Dexter Dennis chipped in with 12. The Shockers gave up 20 points on turnovers.
Shizz Alston Jr. leads the Owls in scoring and assists with averages of 19.2 points and 5.2 assists per game. Two other players led by Quinton Rose with an average of 16.4 points per game are averaging double figures in scoring. Ernest Aflakpui is leading the Owls in rebounds with 6.8 per game. Temple is shooting 44.2% from the field and 31.3% from 3-point territory.
Markus McDuffie leads the Shockers in scoring with an average of 18.8 points per game. Samajae Haynes-Jones is second in scoring and the leader in assists with averages of 12.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. Jaime Echenique leads the Shockers in rebounds with an average of 5.9 per game. Wichita State is shooting 40.8% from the field and 30.9% from 3-point territory.
