The Temple Owls visit Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas on Thursday to play the No. 13 ranked Houston Cougars. Temple fell to 15-5 on the season after squandering a 14-point lead in the second half and losing to Cincinnati 72-68. J.P Moorman II led Temple with 20 points while Shizz Alston Jr. scored 18.
Houston improved to 20-1 on the season following its 77-65 win over Tulsa. The Cougars were led by Armoni Brooks with 22 points. The Cougars became Division I’s first men’s basketball team with 20 wins for the season. The Cougars are tied for first with Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference.
Shizz Alston Jr. leads the Owls in scoring and assists with averages of 18.5 points and 5.2 assists per game. Two other players led by Quinton Rose with an average of 17.1 points per game are averaging double figures in scoring. Ernest Aflakpui is leading the Owls in rebounds with 7.4 per game. Temple is shooting 44.4% from the field and 33.1% from 3-point territory.
Armoni Brooks is the Houston leader in scoring and rebounding with averages of 14.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Corey Davis Jr. is the second leading scorer with an average of 14.6 points per game. Galen Robinson Jr. leads the Cougars in assists with an average of 5.4 per game. Houston is shooting 43.9% from the field and 35.0% from 3-point territory.
