The World’s Most Famous Arena will play host to a Wednesday Big East Tournament battle between the DePaul Blue Demons and the St. John’s Red Storm. The Blue Demons (15-15) finished tied with Butler for the second fewest wins in conference play and are scoring 73.3 points per game. On Saturday, DePaul shot 39 percent from the field during a 75-68 road loss against UConn.
DePaul G Jevon Freeman-Liberty tallied a team-high 22 points on 8-for-18 shooting. Brandon Johnson added 14 points and five rebounds for the Blue Demons.
The St. John’s Red Storm finished three games below .500 in conference play and rank 18th nationally in scoring (79.7 ppg). On Saturday, St. John’s trailed by seven points at halftime and never led during the second half of an 85-77 road loss against Marquette. The Red Storm (16-14) missed 14 of 19 from long range and shot 41 percent overall.
Dylan Addae-Wusu led four St. John’s players in double figures with 19 points in 25 minutes off the bench. Julian Champagnie added 15 points and five rebounds for the Red Storm.
