The St. John’s Red Storm visit the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday to play the Seton Hall Pirates. St. John’s remained perfect improving to 12-0 following its 104-82 win on Saturday night over Sacred Heart. Mustapha Heron and Marvin Clark II led the Red Storm with 23 points each, while Shamorie Pond scored 13 points and handed out nine assists.
Seton Hall moved to 9-3 on the season following a 78-74 win over Maryland. The Pirates were led by Myles Powell with 27 points, while teammate Myles Cole scored 23. This was Seton Hall’s second big upset of the season as they defeated Kentucky 84-83 two weeks ago.
Shamorie Ponds leads St. John’s in scoring and assists with averages of 19.6 points and 6.0 assists per game. Three other players for the Red Storm are averaging double figures in scoring. LJ Figueroa leads the team in rebounding with an average of 7.0 per game. St. John’s is shooting 48.7% from the field and 40.3% from 3-point territory.
Myles Powell leads Seton Hall in scoring with an average of 23.1 points per game. Michael Nzei is the second leading scorer and second in rebounding with averages of 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Sandro Mamukelashvili leads the team in rebounding with an average of 7.8 per game. Seton Hall is shooting 45.3% from the field and 32.3% from 3-point territory.
