The Conference USA championship tournament will open Tuesday night as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles take on the UTSA Roadrunners in Frisco, TX. Southern Miss comes into the conference tournament as the worst team overall riding a 17 game losing streak after a three point loss to Charlotte ended their year. Offensively Southern Miss was mediocre against Charlotte making 45.3% of their shots and 40% from beyond the arc but turned the ball over nine times giving Charlotte the edge.

Isaih Moore led all scorers for Southern Miss with 20 points and a team high 13 rebounds in 36 minutes on the floor. DeAndre Pinckney added 17 points on five of eight shooting and Walyn Napper chipped in 15 points in 40 minutes as the third player in double figures. 

The UTSA Roadrunners finished the regular season with an 11 point win over rice to end a three game skid. Offensively UTSA played one of their best games of late making 51.7% of their shots in 48% from beyond the arc to score 82 points in the game.

Offensively this season UTSA has three players averaging in double figures as Jacob Germany leads the team with 14.7 points per game along with a team high 7.2 rebounds. Dhieu Deing is second on the team averaging 14.2 points and Jordan Ivy-Curry add 13.9 points as well.

Southern Miss was the worst team in this conference all season and that trend will continue Tuesday. Look for UTSA to control this game from start to finish to do enough to pick up a win and cover to advance to the second round of the conference tournament.
