Southern Methodist at Cincinnati 1/6/22 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The SMU Mustangs will end a short one game homestand with a road game Thursday night to Cincinnati, OH to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats in a conference matchup. SMU is on fire as of late coming into Thursday 11-3 overall riding an eight game win streak following a 12 point win against Central Florida to start the new  year. Defensively SMU dominated Central Florida holding the Knights to 37.1% shooting and forced 12 turnovers leading to the double digit win. 

Offensively SMU played well making 42.9% of their shots and 25% from beyond the arc to score 72 points in the game. Kendric Davis was the leading scorer for SMU with 20 points on 4 of 14 shooting in 33 minutes. Zach Nutall added ten points as the only other starter in double figures and Michael Weathers chipped in 19 points on eight of 11 from the floor in 29 minutes off the bench. 

The Cincinnati Bearcats will again be at home Thursday night following an point last to a bad Tulane team. Cincinnati had one of their worst games of the year offensively making only 35% of their shots and 20% from beyond the arc, while turning the ball over 10 times leading to the loss.

Jeremiah Davenport was the only spark in the Cincinnati lineup with a team high 19 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor. Defensively Cincinnati was obliterated by Tulane giving up 68 points including 48 in the first half leading to a 23 point halftime deficit.
