South Dakota vs Colorado 11/25/20 - NCAA Basketball Picks & Predictions

The South Dakota Coyotes and Colorado Buffaloes are set to visit Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas for a matchup in the Little Apple Classic. The South Dakota Coyotes are looking to repeat some of their success from the 2019-2020 season as they went 20-12 which warranted a 3rd place finish in the Summit. The South Dakota Coyotes will have to replace their leading scorer from a season ago in Tyler Hagedorn as he averaged 18.1 PPG and 6.9 RPG before graduating. The Coyotes will be depending on production out of Stanley Umude as the guard was one of the top players last year as he averaged 16.7 PPG and 6.3 RPG, and given the lack of returning producers, he will need to step up.

The South Dakota Coyotes were one of the top scoring teams in college basketball during the 2019-2020 season as they ranked 15th in the country in team scoring as they averaged 79.6 PPG. The Coyotes were the complete opposite on the defensive side of the court as they ranked 293rd in the country in points allowed as they allowed their opponents to score an average of 74.2 PPG.

The Colorado Buffaloes will be looking to improve on their 2019-2020 campaign as they went 21-11 with a 5thplace finish in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes will have to replace one of their top scorers from last season as Tyler Bey moved onto the NBA after averaging 13.8 PPG, 9 RPG, 1.5 SPG. The Buffaloes will be looking for McKinley Wright IV to continue his production as the veteran guard averaged 14.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 5 APG last season.

The Colorado Buffaloes were average at scoring the basketball during the 2019-2020 season as they ranked 186th in the country in team scoring as they averaged 70.9 PPG. The Buffaloes were very good on the defensive side of the court last season as they ranked 42nd in the country in points allowed as they held their opponents to an average of 64.3 PPG.

Both of these teams have to replace their leading scorer from a season ago, but the Colorado Buffaloes are in a better position as they have some key returners plus a young nucleus. The Buffaloes will bring back one of the top guards in the Pac-12 with McKinley Wright IV, and he should be able to control the pace of the game as the Buffaloes will look to lockdown on defense and run in transition. The South Dakota Coyotes were really bad on the defensive side of the court last season as they allowed their opponents to score an average of 74.3 PPG, and I don’t think they will be much better this year, especially in this spot against a Pac-12 opponent. Final Score Prediction, Colorado Buffaloes win and cover ATS 76-59.
