The SMU Mustangs visit Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas on Wednesday to play the Wichita State Shockers. SMU improved to 12-7 on the season following its 85-75 victory over Tulane to sweep the two-game season series. Isiaha Mike and Jahmal McMurray combined to score 49 points in the win that snapped a short two-game losing skid for the Mustangs.
Wichita State fell to 8-11 on the season following its 80-60 loss to UConn. In the loss, Jamarius Burton led the Shockers with 16 points. The loss was the third straight for Wichita State and seventh in the last eight. Wichita State shot just 34% from the field and 29% during the first half.
Jahmal McMurray leads SMU in scoring with an average of 18.3 per game. Jimmy Whitt Jr. leads the Mustangs in rebounds and assists with averages of 6.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. SMU is shooting 44.1% from the field and 34.1% from 3-point territory.
Markus McDuffie leads the Shockers in scoring with an average of 18.6 points per game. Samajae Haynes-Jones is second in scoring and the leader in assists with averages of 12.4 points and 2.8 assists per game. Jaime Echenique leads the Shockers in rebounds with an average of 5.4 per game. Wichita State is shooting 40.7% from the field and 30.3% from 3-point territory.
