San Diego State vs UConn 4/3/23 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The college basketball national championship is Monday night in Houston, TX as the San Diego State Aztecs take on the UConn Huskies. Both teams come into Monday on a tear as each are riding a hot streak into the national championship. San Diego State has 32 wins on the year following back-to-back one point victories including a 72-71 buzzer beater victory over FAU on Saturday. Defensively San Diego State struggled giving up 71 points but allowed just 31 points in the second half on 44.2% shooting and the Aztecs forced 10 turnovers in the game as well. Offensively San Diego State did just enough scoring 72 points including 39 in the second-half to erase the seven point halftime deficit on 43.9% shooting at 50% from beyond the arc.

Matt Bradley carried the scoring for San Diego State with 21 points and six rebounds on 12 shots and 31 minutes of action as the only San Diego State starter in double figures. Lamont Butler scored nine points on six shots including the game deciding bucket as time expired, while the other three San Diego State starters combined to score 15 total points. Big man Jaedon LeDee led the way out to San Diego State bench with 12 points on 12 shots and 15 minutes of game time.

The UConn Huskies roll into the national championship Monday night riding a 5 game win streak as all five have been by double figures following their 13 point win over Miami in the final four. Defensively UConn dominated the game allowing just 59 points on 32.3% shooting, while pulling in nine more rebounds and forcing 9 turnovers in the game. Offensively UConn continued their tear scoring 72 points on 49.1% shooting and made nine long balls in the game as well.

Adama Sanogo led the way for the UConn offense with 21 points and 10 rebounds on 9 of 11 shooting in 26 minutes of action. Jordan Hawkins chipped in the second best 13 points in 26 minutes, while the other Yukon starters combined to score 21 total points in the game. The UConn bench found lots of success pouring in 17 total points in 40 minutes of action.

This will be the last game of the college season as UConn has rolled the tournament and SDSU has survived game after game. UConn is the deeper more talented team and that will be the difference Monday night. Take the Huskies to continue their dominance as they have won every game in the dance by double digits up until this point. Look for UConn to roll to the National Championship Monday night.
