The San Diego State Aztecs are set to face the Nevada Wolf Pack in the semifinal round of the Mountain West Tournament as they will meet at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The San Diego State Aztecs entered the tournament as the 4th seed with a 11-7 record, and they will be looking to expand off their quarterfinal victory over the UNLV Rebels, 63-55. Jalen McDaniels led the way for the Aztecs with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Devin Watson had a solid game for San Diego State despite only going 3 for 13 from the field as he contributed 19 points.

The Nevada Wolf Pack entered the Mountain West Tournament as the 1st seed with a 15-3 record, and they will be looking to expand off their quarterfinal victory over the Boise State Broncos, 77-69. Jazz Johnson led the way for the Nevada Wolf Pack as he contributed 20 points off the bench. Caleb Martin was able to record 19 points and 5 rebounds for the Wolf Pack. Jalen McDaniels is the leading scorer and rebounder for the San Diego State Aztecs as the sophomore forward is averaging 16 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Devin Watson is the leading assists guy for Brian Dutcher and company as the senior guard is averaging 4.2 APG while also contributing 15.7 PPG. The San Diego State Aztecs are shooting 44.4% from the field this season while connecting on 37% of their three-point attempts.

Caleb Martin is the leading scorer for the Nevada Wolf Pack as the senior forward is averaging 19.6 PPG. Jordan Caroline is averaging just shy of a double-double for Eric Musselman and company as the senior forward is averaging 17.7 PPG and 9.6 RPG. Cody Martin is the leading assists guy for the Wolf Pack as the senior forward is contributing 5.1 APG. The Nevada Wolf Pack are shooting 46.8% from the field this season while connecting on 35.3% of their three-point attempts.

San Diego State was able to beat the Nevada Wolf Pack in their 1st meeting this season behind great defense, and that will be the key in determining if they can keep this one close. Nevada is a far superior team with their senior-infested lineup, but San Diego State has young talent which includes Jalen McDaniels and Devin Watson. Nevada allowed Boise State to keep their game close in the quarterfinal round and I see similar results happening here. Nevada wins but fails to covers, 74-67.
