The Samford Bulldogs visit Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee on Wednesday to play the No. 3 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. The Bulldogs improved to 10-2 on the season with an 85-61 win over Houston Baptist on Monday. Josh Sharkey led the Bulldogs with 24 points hitting 5 from 3-point territory while also handing out a team-high five assists.
Tennessee won its fourth straight after defeating the Memphis Tigers 102-92. The Volunteers were led by Admiral Schofield who scored 29 points with 20 coming during the second half and pulled down 11 boards. The win snapped a 3-game losing streak for Tennessee against its in-state rival. The Volunteers were coming off a big win over Gonzaga and did not appear to have a letdown.
Josh Sharkey leads Samford in scoring and assists with averages of 15.5 points and 5.9 assists per game. Ruben Guerrero is second in scoring and the leader in rebounds with averages of 14.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Samford is shooting 48.8% from the field and 39.6% from 3-point territory.
Grant Williams leads Tennessee in scoring and rebounding with averages of 19.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. Admiral Schofield is second on the Volunteers in scoring with an average of 19.1 points per game. Jordan Bone leads the team in assists with an average of 5.8 per game. Tennessee is shooting 48.8% from the field and 35.1% from 3-point territory.
