The California Baptist Lancers will play their 2nd game of the WAC tournament Wednesday night against the Sam Houston Bearcats after their opening round win over UT Rio Grande Valley. California Baptist did just enough on the offensive side of the ball making 54.9% of their shots at 44% from beyond the arc to score 81 points to squeak out one point victory. Taran Armstrong and Tre Armstrong carried the California Baptist offense scoring a team high 13 points each.
Offensively this season California Baptist has been a mediocre team averaging 72.2 points per game in 44.6% shooting from the floor. Ty Rowell leads the California Baptist offense averaging 11.9 points per game on 43.2% shooting. Tre Armstrong is second on the team with 11.8 points and Taran Armstrong chips in 10.6 points 18 point 6.5 assists.
The Sam Houston Bearkats will play their first game of the conference tournament Wednesday night after finishing the regular season tied for second place in the conference. Sam Houston finished the year winning 3 of the last five games played including a 19 point win over Tarleton to end the season. Offensively the Bearkats were dominant in the final game of the regular season making 55.1% of their shots to score 69 points in the game.
Savion Flagg led all scorers for Sam Houston as one of five players in double figures with 18 points and a team high 11 rebounds in 36 minutes on the floor. Demarkus Lampley and Tristan Ikpe chipped in 11 points each and Javion May added ten points in 25 minutes as the fourth starter in double figures.
