The Rhode Island Rams visit Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday to play the Bucknell Bison. The Rams upset West Virginia 83-70 to move to 5-3 on the season. Fatts Russell and Jeff Dowtin led the Rams with 18 points apiece. The win was Rhode Island’s second straight.
Bucknell dropped to 4-4 on the season with an 85-56 loss to Saint Mary’s on Wednesday. The Bison trailed by just 14 points at the half, but poor shooting in the second half resulted in a 29-point loss. Bruce Moore led the Bison with 18 points, while Kimbal MacKenzie chipped in with 14 points. The Bison shot 35% for the night or 10% less than what they average for the season.
Jeff Dowtin leads the Rams in scoring and assists with averages of 16.8 points and 4.3 assists per game. Cyril Langevine is the second leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 15.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Rhode Island is shooting 40.7% from the field and 21.3% from 3-point territory.
Kimbal MacKenzie is the leading scorer for Bucknell with an average of 15.6 points per game. Nate Sestina is second on Bucknell in scoring and first in rebounding with averages of 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds. Jimmy Sotos leads the Bison in assists with an average of 5.0 per game. Bucknell is shooting 43.8% from the field and 34.9% from 3-point territory.
