Quinnipiac vs Drexel 12/3/20 - NCAA Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Quinnipiac Bobcats will meet up with the Drexel Dragons for the second time in as many days. Due to COVID cancellations, we have a rare doubleheader in college basketball between these two teams. Drexel got the best of the Bobcats winning a low scoring 66-48 win which improved Drexel to 1-1 and dropped Quinnipac to 1-1.

Since these two teams played just the day before we can imagine they have each other figured out to at least some degree. Quinnipiac struggled on the offensive end in the first game after scoring 84 points in the season opener but mustered just 48 points against Drexel. Sophomore guard Savion Lewis is leading the team in scoring this season averaging 12 points per game and was the only player in double figures in the first game against Drexel.

Fellow sophomore Seth Pinkey scored 12 points in the opener but collected just three rebounds from the center position. He played just 11 minutes but was still able to score 12 points without missing a shot. Quinnipiac returns 50% of their scoring from last years’ team that averaged 69.6 points per game ranking 224th in scoring offense.

Drexel is very experienced and returns 92% of their scoring from the 2019-2020 season where they averaged just 68.3 points per game. Junior Cameron Wynter picked up right where he left off last season scoring 24 points, collecting 5 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists in the opener, and following it up with 13 points against Quinnipiac.

Drexel should be improved on the offensive end, especially if Wynter can continue his development. Behind Wynter, sophomore forward T.J. Bickerstaff is the second scoring option. He put up 19 points and collected five rebounds in Drexel’s opener and added 11 points in the front end of a doubleheader against Quinnipiac.

Drexel clamped Quinnipac in the first of the doubleheader allowing just 44 points but was gashed by Pitt for 83 points in the season opener. Drexel ranks 243rd in KenPom adjusted defense this season through their two games. Quinnipiac was a bad defensive unit last season and is allowing 66 points per game in 2020 ranking 96th in scoring defense, the Bobcats are 273rd in adjusted defense.

There is no reason to think that Drexel won’t be able to handle Quinnipac for the second night in a row. Drexel is better defensively and with the return of 92% of their scoring, they are going to dominate the Bobcats for the second night in a row. Cameron Wynter is one of the best players in the CAA conference coming off making the All-CAA team in 2019-2020 and being the CAA ROY in 2018-2019. Drexel beats Quinnipiac for the second time in as many days. Final score prediction, Drexel wins and covers ATS 78-62.
