The Providence Friars visit Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday to play the No. 15 ranked Marquette Golden Eagles. Providence improved to 11-6 on the season following a 72-63 upset victory over Seton Hall for the Friars first win in the Big East after losing its first three in conference play.
Marquette improved to 15-3 on the season and 4-1 in Big East play following its 74-71 win on Tuesday over Georgetown. The Golden Eagles were led by Sam Hauser with 31 points, while Theo John scored 14. Marquette high scorer Markus Howard played just three minutes before leaving with tightness in his back.
Alpha Diallo is the leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 17.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for Providence. A.J. Reeves is the second leading scorer with an average of 14.2 points per game. Diallo leads the Friars in assists as well with an average of 3.4 per game. Providence is shooting 43.7% from the field and 36.7% from 3-point territory.
Markus Howard leads Marquette in scoring and assists with averages of 24.4 points and 4.2 assists per game. Sam Hauser is the second leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 14.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. The Golden Eagles are shooting 45.9% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point territory.
