The Providence Friars visit Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday to play the DePaul Blue Demons. The Friars fell to 13-8 following a 65-63 loss to Seton Hall. Providence had an opportunity to tie the game and send it to overtime, but Seton Hall’s Romaro Gill blocked the shot with just seconds left. Alpha Diallo led the Friars in the loss with 21 points.
DePaul fell to 11-9 on the season following its 86-74 loss to Villanova on Wednesday. Femi Olujobi led DePaul with 20 points and eight boards, while Eli Can added 17, but Paul Reed mustered just six points and six boards after averaging over 18 points and 10 boards the prior six games.
Alpha Diallo is the leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 17.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for Providence. A.J. Reeves is the second leading scorer with an average of 12.8 points per game. Diallo leads the Friars in assists as well with an average of 3.3 per game. Providence is shooting 43.4% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point territory.
Max Strus leads DePaul in scoring and is second in rebounding with averages of 17.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Devon Gage leads the Blue Demons in assists with an average of 4.1 per game. Paul Reed is the leading rebounder with an average of 7.9 per game. DePaul is shooting 46.7% from the field and 32.3% from 3-point territory.
