Pepperdine at Portland 2/20/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Pepperdine Waves travel to Portland, OR on Thursday for a game against the Portland Pilots in a matchup of teams from the West Coast Conference.  In their last game, Pepperdine was defeated by #2 Gonzaga by the score of 89-77.  Colbey Ross was the Waves’ leading scorer on the night with 23 points while shooting 9 of 18 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free throw line.  Ross also led Pepperdine in assists in the game with 6, while playing a total of 33 minutes.  Kessler Edwards was the most productive rebounder on the night for the Waves as he pulled in 8 rebounds, including 2 coming offensively.

After the loss to Gonzaga, Pepperdine is now 14-13 on the season and 7-6 in conference play which places them in 5th place in the WCC.  Colbey Ross has been the leading scorer this season for the Waves as he has averaged 19.9 points per game while shooting 41.2% from the field and 87.1% from the free throw line.  Ross also leads Pepperdine in assists per game with an average of 7.3.  Kessler Edwards leads the Waves in rebounds per game with an average of 7.4, including an average of 2.6 offensive rebounds per game.

The Portland Pilots welcome the Pepperdine Waves to town on Thursday after losing their last game to Pacific by the score of 75-55.  JoJo Walker led the Pilots in scoring on the night with 20 points while shooting 6 of 16 from the field and 5 of 5 from the free throw line.  Walker was also the assists leader for Portland with 1, while playing a total of 39 minutes against Pacific.  Jacob Tryon was the leader in rebounds in the game for Portland with 4, including 1 coming offensively.

With the loss to Pacific, Portland is now 9-18 on the season and 1-11 in conference play, placing them in 10th place in the West Coast Conference.  Isaiah White has led the Pilots in scoring this season with an average of 12.3 points per game, while shooting 42.1% from the field and 76.3% from the free throw line.  Jacob Tryon is the leading rebounder for Portland this season with an average of 5.1 rebounds per game.  Chase Adams leads the Pilots in assists per game with an average of 3.8.

The Pepperdine Waves have scored an average of 77.2 points per game on the year while allowing 77.8 points per game.  The Portland Pilots have scored 67.2 points per game while allowing 72.1 points per game.  In their last 5 games, the Waves are 3-2 while the Pilots are 0-5 and have lost 10 games in a row.  In the first meeting of the season between these two teams, Pepperdine came away with the win by the score of 80-69.  Portland has struggled finding ways to win as of late and I don’t see that changing in this one.  Pepperdine has averaged scoring 10 points more per game than Portland and the Wave easily defeated the Pilots earlier this season.  Final score prediction, Pepperdine Waves win and cover ATS, 82-70.
