On Wednesday, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will visit Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma to play the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the opening game of the college basketball regular season for both. The Golden Eagles were 11-21 last season and look to improve on that in 2019. The top two returnees from last season are Emmanuel Nzekwesi and Kevin Obanor.

Key graduate transfers have been added. Deondre Burns joins from Little Rock and Ty Lazenby arrives from Oklahoma. Burns played two seasons ago and made 3-pointers at a rate of 40%, while Lazenby played just an average of five minutes each game with the Sooners but scored well while in junior college at Northern Oklahoma-Enid.

Oklahoma State is coming off a 12-20 season overall and 5-13 in the Big 12. The Cowboys have each of their five starters back and expect to return to the Big Dance after two years watching. Three of the five starters returning - Cameron McGriff, Lindy Waters and Thomas Dziagwa averaged double figures in scoring last season.

New players for the Cowboys include six freshmen and one graduate transfer. Jonathan Laurent is the lone transfer. Laurent joins the Cowboys from UMass via Rutgers. Last season Laurent scored an average of 9.5 points per game with 5.0 rebounds and led the Atlantic 10 in three-point accuracy hitting 46.7% of his attempts. Avery Anderson and Marcus Watson are freshmen with four-star ratings.

Oklahoma State is coming off a rather poor season, but the Cowboys return all five starters and have added six strong freshmen and a solid graduate transfer. The Cowboys have won 6 of the last 7 versus an opponent that plays in the Summit League. Oral Roberts has failed to cover 4 of its last 5 and 7 of its last 8 on the road. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma State Cowboys win and cover ATS 88-63.
