The Conference USA championship tournament will continue Wednesday night as the Old Dominion Monarchs take on the UTEP Miners. Old Dominion comes into the conference tournament after winning three of the last four games played including the final game of the regular season against Middle Tennessee state. ODU beat MTSU 68-64 to close out the regular season after holding the Blue Raiders to 45.7% shooting and forced 16 turnovers.
Offensively Old Dominion was mediocre in the final game of the year making 40% of their shots in 29.4% from me on the arc to squeak out the win. CJ Keyser led all scorers for Old Dominion with 16 points on 7 of 22 shooting in 35 minutes on the floor. Kalu Ezpike added 14 points and six rebounds and Jaylin Hunter contributed 13 points in 38 minutes as the third starter to score double figures.
The UTEP Miners roll into the conference tournament after finishing the season riding a two game win streak after a two point win over North Texas to close the season. Offensively UTEP did just enough against North Texas making 48.9% of their shots at 45.5% from me on the arc to score 35 points in each half to pick up the win.
UTEP has been a mediocre offense this season averaging only 69 points per game on 43% shooting as a team. Souley Boum leads the Miners offense as one of three players in double figures scoring 19.8 points per game period Jamal Bieniemy chips in a second best 14.8 points in a team high 3.9 assists.
