Northern Iowa at Grand Canyon 12/12/19 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Northern Iowa Panthers are set to visit GCU Arena in Phoenix, Arizona for a non-conference clash against the Grand Canyon Antelopes. The Northern Iowa Panthers come into this matchup with a 9-1 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent road game against the Colorado Buffaloes, 79-76. Leading the way for the Northern Iowa Panthers was sophomore guard AJ Green as he recorded 20 points and 4 assists. Joining Green in the backcourt was junior guard Trae Berhow who had a productive outing for the Panthers with 20 points.

The Northern Iowa Panthers had a good shooting game against the Colorado Buffaloes as they connected on 27 of their 58 field goal attempts (46.6%), and they were slightly better from behind the three-point line (53.8%). The Northern Iowa Panthers lost the turnover battle against the Colorado Buffaloes (16-15), but they edged out the Buffaloes in the rebounding department (31-29).

The Grand Canyon Antelopes come into this matchup with a 4-7 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent game against the Liberty Flames, 70-61. Leading the way for the Grand Canyon Antelopes was junior guard Isiah Brown as he recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds. Junior center Alessandro Lever had a productive outing for the Antelopes as he pitched in 14 points and 5 rebounds.

The Grand Canyon Antelopes had a solid shooting game against the Liberty Flames as they connected on 23 of their 53 field goal attempts (43.4%), but they were significantly worse from behind the three-point line (23.8%). The Grand Canyon Antelopes lost the turnover battle against the Liberty Flames (11-9), and they were even with the Flames in the rebounding department (32-32).

The Northern Iowa Panthers have quietly put together an amazing season as they are sitting at 9-1, and they will come into this game with a sense of confidence after winning on the road against a ranked Colorado team. Northern Iowa has been good on both sides of the court as they are averaging 76.3 PPG while holding their opponents to an average of 62.6 PPG, but Grand Canyon hasn’t had as much success as they are averaging 67 PPG while allowing an average of 70.9 PPG. Northern Iowa has a productive backcourt with AJ Green (15 PPG) and Trae Berhow (14.5 PPG), and I expect them to have no problem putting up points on Grand Canyon. Northern Iowa will be good on the defensive side of the court and get some key stops to help pull out a win. Final Score Prediction, Northern Iowa Panthers win and cover ATS 74-64.
