North Carolina vs. Virginia 3/10/22 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Virginia Cavaliers will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels Thursday night in the ACC tournament quarterfinal in Brooklyn, NY. Virginia got to this point in the tournament following a one point win over Louisville on Wednesday. Defensively Virginia was dominant holding Louisville to 35.7% from the floor and 22.7% from beyond the arc, while forcing 12 turnovers leading to the victory.

Offensively Virginia was mediocre shooting only 42% from the floor and zero percent from beyond the arc to score 51 points in the game. Jayden Gardner led the way for the Virginia offense posting a  team high 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting in 37 minutes on the floor. Kihei Clark chipped in 15 points in 38 minutes as the only other player in double figures.

The North Carolina Tar Heels come into the conference tournament on a tear riding a five game win streak including a 13 point win over Duke to end the season. The UNC offense was lights out against Duke making 48.5% of their shots and 39.1% from beyond the arc scored 94 points in the game including 55 in the second half to erase a two point halftime deficit.

Offensively this season North Carolina has four players averaging double figures led by Armando Bacot posting a team high 16.5 points per game to go along with a team leading 12.5 rebounds. Caleb Love adds in a second best 15.7 points per game and a team leading 3.7 assists, while Brady Manek chips in a third best 14.4 point game.

On paper this looks like a close match up, but the North Carolina offense will dominate this game. Look for the size and depth of the North Carolina scoring to be the difference as the Tar Heels will roll Thursday night to win. Final Score Prediction, UNC wins and covers 77-69.
