The  15th seeded Saint Peter’s Peacocks play the eighth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday in the Elite 8, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The winner moves on to the Final Four as the champion of the East Region. Saint Peter’s kept its Cinderella-story alive with a 67-64 victory on Friday over the third-seeded Purdue Boilermakers in the Sweet 16. Saint Peter’s has defeated the No. 2, No. 7 and No. 3 seeds in its three games thus far.

Daryl Banks III is the leading scorer for St Peters with an average of 11.4 points per game, while Fousseyni Drame is the leading rebounder with an average of 6.6 rebounds per game. Matthew Lee is the leader in assists with an average of 3.0 assists per game. The Peacocks have only two players that average double figures in scoring and as a team Saint Peter’s is scoring an average of 66.9 points per game.

North Carolina reached the Elite 8 following its 73-66 upset victory against fourth-seeded UCLA on Friday. Caleb Love was the leading scorer for North Carolina with 30 points. The Tar Heels shot only 40.9% but outrebounded the Bruins 43-34. North Carolina has defeated No. 9 seeded Marquette, No. 1 seeded Baylor and the No. 4 seeded Bruins in its first three games of the tournament.

Armando Bacot is leading North Carolina in scoring and rebounding with averages of 16.4 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, while Caleb Love is the second leading scorer and the leader in assists with averages of 15.8 points and 3.7 assists per game. North Carolina has four players averaging double-figures in scoring and as a team the Tar Heels are scoring an average of 77.5 points per game.

Saint Peter’s is the surprise of the NCAA Tournament and will give North Carolina a tough test on Sunday.
