Norfolk State at Ole Miss 11/12/19 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

Norfolk State has played a couple teams outside of Division I and will see its competition ramp up drastically on Tuesday against Ole Miss. The Spartans breezed to a pair of wins against Greensboro and Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

Senior guard Jermaine Bishop is looking to have a big senior season for the Spartans. A transfer from St. Louis, Bishop averaged 8.9 points as a freshman and followed that up with 11.6 per game as a sophomore, with 4.7 assists. In his first two games witn Norfolk State, Bishop scored 11 and 15 points.

Ole Miss looks like it could be dangerous this season. The Rebels are coming off a 2018-19 season in which they wound up in the middle of the SEC standings with a 10-8 conference record. They played in the NCAA Tournament and were crushed in the first round against Oklahoma in an eighth seed vs. ninth seed game.

In their first game this season, the Rebels beat Arkansas State 71-43 after jumping out to a 39-19 first-half advantage. Ole Miss used stifling defense, with 23 turnovers forced and an opponent field goal percentage of just 32.6

Junior guard Devontae Shuler figures to be a key part of the Rebel offense this season. He hit 7 of 11 from the field and 3 of 7 from beyond the arc for 20 points against the Red Wolves. As a sophomore, Shuler averaged 10.3 points and had a season-high 24 against Cincinnati.

Ole Miss has a defense that has been hard to beat all year long. The Spartans are coming in after playing a couple of squash teams and now have to face a hot Old Miss defense and an Ole Miss offense that has shown it is possible to jump out big in the games and control the games. Look for that to continue here as the Ole Miss offense rules the day here. Final Score Prediction, Ole Miss Rebels win and cover ATS 73-48.
