Mississippi State at Missouri 2/29/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Mississippi State Bulldogs hit the road for a clash with the Missouri Tigers.  The Bulldogs are (18-10), coming off a 80-73 win over Alabama.  The Tigers are (14-14), after getting past Vanderbilt on the road, 61-52.

In the Bulldogs win over Alabama, Mississippi State was guided throughout the game by Reggie Perry.  Perry secured a double-double, totaling 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Mississippi State shot a sizzling 53% from the floor and 29% from 3-point distance.  The Bulldogs held Alabama to just 39% from the floor.  Mississippi State out scored Alabama from the foul line, 16 to 8.  The Bulldogs did allow 17 offensive rebounds.

Reggie Perry has led the way for the bulldogs this season, averaging 17.4 points and 9.9 rebounds.  Tyson carter is collecting 13.7 points and 3.2 assists on the season.  The Bulldogs are registering 74 points of offense, while connecting on 47% from the floor.

In the Tigers win over Vanderbilt, Missouri was led on offense by Mitchell Smith.  Smith collected 6 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists.  The Tigers shot 42% from the floor and 24% from 3-point range.  Missouri out rebounded Vanderbilt, 42 to 27.  The Tigers held Vanderbilt to just 19% from 3-point range.  Missouri trailed 28-27 at the half.

Dru Sith has paced the Tigers this season, totaling 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.  Xavier Pinson is averaging 10.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.  Missouri is averaging 67.2 points and making 41% from the floor on the year.

Mississippi State is the more talented team, but Missouri is a scrappy bunch and has the ability to hang around with most teams in the SEC.  The Tigers sit at 14-14 and a lot of that has to do with their work ethic.  There aren't a lot of teams that out hustle coach Cuonzo Martin and the Tigers.  Missouri is 11-3 at home, while Mississippi State is 2-6 on the road.  The Tigers are a top 50 scoring defense at home, giving up less than 61 points.  I like for the Tigers defense to keep them in this one.  This game should come down to the wire and the team that shoots free throws the best will win.  The Tigers have the edge ranking 13th in foul shooting, while the Bulldogs are 31st.  I'll side with Missouri and their defense to do enough in this one.  Final score prediction, Missouri will win and cover ATS, 70-64.
