The Marshall Thundering Herd will take on the Florida International Panthers Tuesday night to open the Conference USA tournament. Marshall comes into the conference tournament after finishing the season as one of the worst teams in the league as the Thundering Herd lost four of the last five games of the regular season including three in a row after a nine point loss to Western Kentucky. Offensively Marshall was terrible to end the year making 39.1% of their shots and turned the ball over 15 times as Western Kentucky rolled to the victory.
Andrew Taylor and Taevion Kinsey led the way for the Marshall starters scoring 16 points each. Big man Goran Miladiovic chipped in seven points and a team high 11 rebounds, while Marko Sarenac added a team high 18 points in 37 minutes off the bench.
The Florida International Panthers finished the regular season on a four game losing streak following back to back losses to Florida Atlantic to end season. Florida International lost to FAU 84-76 to close out the regular season after the Owls shot 47.4% from the floor to score 84 points in the game including 50 in the first half.
Offensively this season FIU has been an average team scoring 71 points per game on 43.1% shooting from the floor. Tevin Brewer leads the offense averaging 14.9 points per game to go along the team high 5.7 assist. Denver Jones chips in 12.6 points as the only other player in double figures and Clevon Brown adds 8.5 points and a team high 5.3 rebounds per game.
