Marquette at DePaul 3/3/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Marquette Golden Eagles travel on the road to the Wintrust Arena to take on the DePaul Blue Devils. Marquette has lost four of their last five games, the most recent coming at home to Seton Hall losing 88-79 to drop their record on the season to 18-10 on the year. DePaul has really struggled as of late losing ten of their last eleven games, the most recent being dominated on the road by Butler. DePaul was only able to muster 42 points and lost 6-42 to drop their record to 14-15 on the season. 

DePaul comes into this game averaging just 71.3 points per game ranking 176th in scoring offense while shooting 44.3% from the field ranking 141st in the NCAA offensive shooting percentage. Leading DePaul is junior guard Charlie Moore who is averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game while also leading the team in assists with 6.1 per game. Junior forward Paul Reed leads the team in rebounding with 10.6 rebounds per game while adding 14.9 points per game which is good for second on the team. 

Marquette is a solid offense and comes in scoring 77.8 points per game ranking 30th in scoring offense in college basketball. Senior guard Markus Howard leads the entire NCAA in points per game, averaging 27.6 points per game while shooting 42% from the field on almost 20 shots per game. Howard also leads the team in assists with 3.3 per game. Senior guard Sacar Anim is second on the team in points with 12.9 per game while adding 4 rebounds and an assist per game.

Marquette is really struggling on the defensive end this year allowing 71.1 points per game ranking 226th in scoring defense while opponents are shooting 41.3% from the field which ranks 86th in defensive shooting percentage. The DePaul defense is allowing 70.6 points per game ranking 211th in scoring defense while opposing teams are shooting 41.2% from the field which ranks 78th in defensive shooting percentage.

Marquette has struggled as of late but still has a lot to play for as they look to improve their seed for the NCAA tournament. The Golden Eagles are a very good offensive team and are led by an absolute stud in Markus Howard. Howard leads the entire NCAA in points per game averaging 27.6 points per game. DePaul started off the season red hot, but has struggled in Big East play and has won just one of their last eleven games.
