The LSU Tigers are set to visit Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia for a non-conference clash against the VCU Rams. The LSU Tigers come into this matchup with a 1-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Bowling Green State Falcons, 88-79. Leading the way for the LSU Tigers was sophomore guard Ja’vonte Smart as he recorded 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sophomore forward Emmitt Williams had a productive game off the bench for the Tigers as he contributed 21 points and 7 rebounds.

The LSU Tigers had a good shooting game against the Bowling Green State Falcons as they connected on 27 of his 57 field goal attempts (47.4%), but they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (38.9%). The LSU Tigers lost the turnover battle against the Bowling Green State Falcons (16-9), but they edged out the Falcons in the rebounding department (46-41).

The VCU Rams come into this matchup with a 2-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the North Texas Mean Green, 59-56. Leading the way for the VCU Rams was senior guard Marcus Evans as he recorded 13 points and 2 steals. Joining Evans in the backcourt was senior guard De’Riante Jenkins who had a productive outing with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

The VCU Rams struggled shooting the ball against the North Texas Mean Green as they connected on 17 of their 46 field goal attempts (37%), but they were slightly better from behind the three-point line (38.5%). The VCU Rams were even with the North Texas Mean Green in the turnover battle (18-18), and they were also even in the rebounding department (31-31).

The LSU Tigers are an extremely talented team, and they return a couple of key pieces from last year’s team which will help them be a contender in the SEC and return to the NCAA Tournament. The LSU Tigers have one of the better backcourts in college basketball with Ja’vonte Smart and Skylar Mays. VCU is one of the better defensive teams in the country, but they lack scoring which won’t bode well against a team who is more talented and put up 88 points in their first game. VCU will need to control their turnover problems if they want a shot at winning, but the depth of LSU will wear down the Rams. Final Score Prediction, LSU Tigers win and cover ATS 76-67.
