The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will take on the North Texas Mean Green Friday afternoon in Frisco, TX in the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament. Louisiana Tech made it to the conference semifinals after a two point win over Western Kentucky on Thursday. Defensively Louisiana Tech stifled Western Kentucky holding the Hilltoppers to 35.6% from the floor and forced 11 turnovers leading to the victory.
Keaston Willis shined in the Louisiana Tech offense against Western Kentucky with a team high 17 points on six of 12 shooting in 36 minutes of the floor. Big man Kenneth Lofton Jr. scored 15 points to go along with a team high 12 rebounds and David Green led the way with 10 points off the bench.
The North Texas Mean Green come into the semifinals 24-5 on the year after winning 16 of the last 17 games played after an 18 point blowout of Rice. Offensively North Texas was dominant making 50% of their shots to score 68 points in 40 minutes. Abou Ousmane was the leading scorer for North Texas with 16 points in the game.
The North Texas offense has been mediocre at best this season as the Mean Green have averaged only 65.8 points per game on 44.9% shooting but their defense has been the difference holding opponents to 55.6 points. Tylor Perry Is the leading scorer for North Texas averaging 13.7 points per game to go along with a team high 2.7 assists.
