The Marshall Thundering Herd let's take the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Wednesday night in the second round of the Conference USA championship. Marshall ended a three game losing streak with a first round 74-62 win or on Tuesday night. Offensively Marshall shot the ball well during the first round making 41% from the floor and 23.8% from beyond the arc to score 74 points of including 41 in the second half.
Taevion Kinsey posted a team high 23 points on 9 of 16 shooting from the floor. Obinna Anochili-Killen added in 16 points and a team high 12 rebounds, while Mikel Beyers scored 14 points to round out the martial scoring attack.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs come into the conference tournament after losing two of the final three games of the season following a 13 point loss to UAB to end the year. Defensively Louisiana Tech struggled as UAB made 56.1% of their shots from the floor and 47.6% from beyond the arc to score 87 total points in this game.
The Bulldogs offense is the team’s biggest strength of the season averaging 76.9 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor. Big man Kenneth Lofton Jr. leads Louisiana Tech averaging 16.4 points per game to go along with a team high 10.5 rebounds. Amorie Archibald adds in 13.2 points per game and Cobe Wiliams scores 11.4 points and posts a team leading 3.2 assists.
