The Kent State Golden Flashes visit Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Oregon on Friday to play the Oregon State Beavers. The Golden Flashes fell to 8-2 on the season following an 83-70 loss to the Louisville Cardinals. Kent State trailed by 18 at the half and trailed by as many as 24 in the second half. Jaylin Walker led Kent State with 28 points in the loss.
Oregon State improved to 7-3 on the season following an 82-67 win over Pepperdine on Monday. The Beavers were led by Tres Tinkle with 21 points, seven assists and five steals. Kylor Kelley set a new Oregon State record in blocks with nine to go along with 10 points and nine boards, while Stephen Thompson Jr. scored 20 points.
Jaylin Walker leads Kent State in scoring with an average of 25.2 points per game. Three other Golden Flashes are averaging double figures in scoring. Philip Whittington leads the Golden Flashes in rebounds with an average of 7.5 per game. Jalen Avery leads in assists with an average of 4.2 per game. Kent State is shooting 45.7% from the field and 38.3% from 3-point territory.
Tres Tinkle leads the Beavers in scoring, rebounds and assists with averages of 19.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Stephen Thompson Jr. is the second leading scorer for the Beavers with an average of 15.4 points per game. Oregon State is shooting 46.7% from the field and 34.2% from 3-point territory.
