The Iowa State Cyclones open the Midwest region on Friday afternoon in Milwaukee, WI against the LSU Tigers. Iowa State barely got into the tournament after losing three games in a row to end the year following a 31 point blowout loss to Texas Tech in the final game of the season. Offensively Iowa State was terrible against Texas Tech making 31.3% of their shots and turned the ball over 20 times leading to the loss.

For the season Iowa State has two players averaging double figures as Izaiah Brockington leads the team scoring 17.2 points per game to go along with a team high 7.1 rebounds. Tyrese Hunter is second on the team scoring 10.8 points and leads the way with 4.9 assists.

The LSU Tigers come into the big dance without their head coach after finishing the year losing four of the last seven games including a 12 point loss to Arkansas to end the season. LSU lost 79-67 to Arkansas in the SEC tournament after the Razorbacks shot 42.1% from the floor and scored 50 points in the second half.

The LSU offense struggled against Arkansas making only 35.3% of their shots and 21.1% from beyond the arc. Darius Days led the way for LSU starters scoring 14 points to go along with a team high 10 rebounds in 29 minutes. Brandon Murray added 13 points in 32 minutes and Tari Eason carried the way off the bench with a team high 15 points.

Both teams ended the season struggling but LSU is the better team in this matchup. LSU has far more talent and a deeper roster that will be the difference in the opening round. Take LSU to do enough Friday night in Milwaukee to win and advance. Final Score Prediction, LSU wins and covers 74-64.
