The Iona Gaels are not the best team in the MAAC, but thankfully for the Gaels faithful the team is still within striking distanceof the Quinnipiac team as they are only a game back. However, the Gaels in the overall record are 5 games under the five hundred mark and it is going to show that the team needs to make some dramatic improvements if they are going to be taken seriously on the season and in the conference tournament.

So far this year the Gaels have been able to get only 76.5 points a game, which is decent. The problem is the defense is giving up 77.8 points a game on the year. The Gaels have ended up getting 13.4 assist a game on the year and have managed to get only 34.2 boards a game. The Bobcats for their part are sitting a top the MAAC on the year. However, the Bobcats are going to be facing a strong challenge from the team that is in 3rd place here in Iona. What could be a telling story is that most of the Gaels wins have come only in conference play and the Bobcats have been fairly well balanced to the point they are not a team that has struggled a ton on the year in non-conference play even.
