Indiana vs Providence 11/30/20 - NCAA Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Indiana Hoosiers visit Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina on Monday to play the Providence Friars. Indiana opened its 2020-21 regular season with an 89-59 victory over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. Indiana was led by Traye Jackson-Davis with 26 points and 11 rebounds. The forward hit 10 of his 16 field goals and 6 of 11 shots from the free throw line. Indiana led 48-19 at the half and coasted to the victory by 30 points.

The Hoosiers shot 56.9% overall from the floor and 26.3% from 3-point territory. Indiana forced Texas Tech into committing 20 turnovers, while the Hoosiers turned the ball over just eight times. In the rebounding department, Indiana grabbed 36 and Tennessee Tech had 33. Indiana had three players that scored in double-figures.

Providence is 1-0 following its 97-56 victory over Fairfield in the opening game of the regular season for both. Nate Watson scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Friars to the victory on Monday. David Duke scored 18 points and had seven rebounds while AJ Reeves chipped in with 14 points. Providence led by 12 points at halftime but outscored the Stags by 29 points in the second-half to win by 41. 

Providence shot 48.6% overall from the floor and 43.8% from 3-point territory and held Fairfield to 37.3% shooting overall and 13.3% from three-point territory. The Friars committed just seven turnovers while forcing Fairfield to commit 15. Providence outrebounded Fairfield 44-30. Providence had 17 offensive rebounds to just seven by Fairfield giving the Friars 10 more second chance opportunities.

Indiana showed its strength in its opening victory over Tennessee Tech by grabbing 17 offensive rebounds for several second-chance opportunities. The Hoosiers are expected to compete for the Big Ten title with another three or four teams in the conference. Indiana has covered four of its last five overall.  Providence played well ending its season last year and it started off with a victory, but the Friars have lost each of the last five straight up against an opponent from the Big Ten Conference.
