The Illinois State Redbirds visit JQH Arena in Springfield, Missouri on Wednesday to play the Missouri State Bears in a Missouri Valley Conference showdown. Illinois State fell to 7-15 overall and 2-8 in the MVC following its 80-70 loss to the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday. The loss was Illinois State's eighth in its last nine overall with only a victory over Evansville mixed in. 

Zach Copeland is the leading scorer for Illinois State with an average of 15.3 points per game, while Keith Fisher III is the leading rebounder with an average of 5.8 per game and Ricky Torres is the leader in assists with an average of 3.1 per game. Copeland is the only player for Illinois State averaging double figures in scoring.

Missouri State fell to 10-13 overall and 4-6 and the MVC following its 78-68 loss on Saturday to the Indiana State Sycamores. With the loss, the Bears fell into eighth place in the MVC four games behind leader Northern Iowa and the Bears have lost each of the last three to Drake, Northern Iowa and Indiana State.

Keandre Cook is the leading scorer and leader in assists for Missouri State with averages of 15.0 points and 1.7 assists per game, while Tulio Da Silva is the third leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 9.4 points and seven rebounds per game. Missouri State has just two players averaging double figures in scoring.

Both teams are going through disappointing seasons. Missouri State Bears have failed to cover 11 of their last 15 on their own home court and four of their last five played during the month of February. Illinois State has covered four of its last five when playing head-to-head against Missouri State and the Redbirds have won eight of their last 11 straight up versus Missouri State.
