The Idaho Vandals will open the Big Sky championship Wednesday morning in Boise, ID as they take on the Sacramento State Hornets. Idaho finished the regular season 12 games below .500 following a nine point win over Northern Arizona that ended a 3 game skid. Offensively Idaho had one of their best games as of late making 46.3% of their shots to score 78 points including 44 points in the second half leading to the easy win.
Mikey Dixon led the way for the Idaho offense scoring a team high 27 points on 9 to 14 shooting in 31 minutes on the floor. Trevante Anderson chipped in 16 points and Rashad Smith added ten points as the third player in double figures.
Sacramento State Hornets comes into the conference tournament running hot after winning four of the last five games played in the regular season. Sacramento State ended the season with a 72-71 win over Montana after shooting 47.2% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc.
Offensively Sacramento State has been a below average team this season averaging only 65.9 points per game on 43.3% shooting. Bryce Fowler leads the Sacramento State offense as one of three players scoring double figures averaging 18.7 points per game to go along with a team high 4.1 assists. Zach Chapell chips in a second best 11.4 points per game on 39.3% shooting.
