The Howard Bison visit Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C. on Friday to play the George Washington Colonials. Howard improved to 6-3 on the season with an 85-83 win over American University on Saturday. The Bison were led by the Big Three of R.J. Cole, Charles Williams and Chad Lott who combined for 65 of Howard’s 85 points and made 6 free throws during the final 27 seconds.
George Washington fell to 2-8 on the season following an 82-79 loss to Valparaiso. The Colonials were able to tie the game with 3:31 to play 74-all, but were outscored 6-1 over the next minute to trail 80-75 and could not recover. Maceo Jack led George Washington in the loss with 23 points.
RJ Cole leads Howard in scoring and assists with averages of 21.4 points and 7.0 assists per game. Akuwovo Ogheneyole leads the Bison in rebounds with an average of 5.4 per game. Charles Williams and Chad Lott are the only other two Howard players to average double figures in scoring. Howard is shooting 45.8% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point territory.
DJ Williams leads George Washington in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per game. Arnaldo Toro leads the team in rebounding with an average of 9.3 per game, while Armel Potter is the leader in assists with an average of 2.8 per game. George Washington is shooting 41.9% from the field and 31.0% from 3-point territory.
