On Saturday, the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas to play the Texas Longhorns. The Antelopes fell to 5-4 on the season after losing to the No. 6 ranked Nevada Wolfpack 74-66. Trey Drechsel led the Antelopes in the loss with 16 points, while Alessandro Lever scored 13. Grand Canyon trailed by just two points at the half and was within 10 points for all but a few minutes of the second half.
The Texas Longhorns snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday with a 72-68 win over Purdue. The Longhorns were led by Matt Coleman III who scored 22 points. The Longhorns had lost three straight to Michigan State, Radford and VCU prior to putting together a strong effort to beat Purdue.
Alessandro Lever leads Grand Canyon in scoring with an average of 13.0 points per game. Michael Finke is the leading rebounder with an average of 5.1 per game, while Daman Milstead leads the Antelopes in assists with an average of 3.2 per game. Grand Canyon is shooting an average of 45.1% from the field and 30.9% from 3-point territory.
Kerwin Roach II leads the Longhorns in scoring, is second in rebounding and first in assists with averages of 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. The second leading scorer and leading rebounder is Dylan Osetkowski with averages of 10.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Texas is shooting 41.2% from the field and 30.4% from 3-point territory.
