Kentavious Dozier with 11 and James Flippin with 10 points also scored in double figures for the Tigers. PJ Eason grabbed seven rebounds to lead Grambling and Dozier handed out five assists to lead the Tigers. Grambling shot only 32.2%, but held Southern to just a 31.9% shooting.

The Alabama State Hornets reached the semifinals of the SWAC tournament with an 84-79 victory over the Texas Southern Tigers. D’Ante Bass came off the bench to score 16 points for Alabama State while CJ Hines and TJ Madlock each scored 15 points for the Hornets. Alabama State received eight rebounds from Madlock and six assists. 

Alabama State's offense shot just 41.5% overall but made 14 of 29 3-point attempts for an average of 48.3% from 3-point territory. The Hornets won despite allowing Texas Southern to shoot 52.6% overall and 45.5% from 3-point territory. Alabama State was hurt on the free throw line, making only 57.1% of its attempts, but Texas Southern was even worse, making just 47.4%
