The WCC conference tournament ends Tuesday night when the Saint Mary's Gaels take on the Bulldogs in Las Vegas, NV. Saint Mary's is the hottest team in the conference as of late riding a five game win streak into the conference championship following a 3 point win over Santa Clara Monday night in the semifinals. Offensively Saint Mary's did just enough against Santa Clara making 49.1% of their shots 46.2% from beyond the arc to squeak out the three point victory.
Tommy Kuhse shined in the semifinals posting a team high 27 points on 11 of 18 shooting in 40 minutes on the floor. Matthias Tass chipped in 18 points and seven rebounds, while Logan Johnson chipped in a third best 14 points as the third starter to score double figures.
This Gonzaga team is the top team in the nation and coasted into the Finals of the tournament following a 10 point win over San Francisco Monday night. Drew Timme finally woke up against San Francisco posting a team high 22 points on 9/13 shooting in only 25 minutes on the floor. Andrew Nembhard and Chet Holmgren added to the Gonzaga offense scoring 17 points apiece.
Offensively this eason Gonzaga has been the most dominant team in the nation averaging 88 points per game on 52.6% shooting from the floor. Drew Timme is the leader of the Gonzaga offense averaging 17.8 points per game on 58.7% shooting. Chet Holmgren adds 14.5 points to go along with a team leading 9.6 rebounds and Andrew Nembhard contributes 11.5 points and a team high 5.6 assists.
