Georgetown at Providence 2/8/23 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

The Georgetown Hoyas end a two game homestand Wednesday night with a game in Providence, RI against the Providence Friars. Georgetown comes into Wednesday struggling this year with only six wins overall after losing four of the last five including three in a row after a 6 point loss to Connecticut. Defensively Georgetown was outmatched as Connecticut scored 68 points including 37 in the second half on 42.2% shooting and a blistering 50% from beyond the arc. Offensively Georgetown did shoot the ball well making 43.4% of their shots made only 64.3% of their free throws and committed 10 turnovers resulting in the loss.

Primo Spears is the offensive leader for Georgetown this season averaging 16.1 points per game on 42.5% shooting go along with the team leading 5.3 assists as well. Brandon Murray is averaging 14.8 points and jay Heath chips in 12.9 points per game as well. Big man Qudus Wahab averages a team high 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with 10.3 points as well.

The Providence Friars will return home Wednesday night ranked in the top 25 this season following a two point loss to Xavier in their last game. Offensively Providence struggled a bit making only 43.5% of their shots and an abysmal 77.8% from the free throw line resulting in the two point overtime loss. Defensively Providence did struggle as Xavier scored 85 points including nine in overtime on nearly 47% shooting from the floor.

Bryce Hopkins is the offensive leader for Providence this season averaging 16.1 points per game on 47.2% shooting to go along with a team leading 9.3 rebounds as well. Devon Carter is averaging 13.1 points and Ed Croswell average is 12.9 points per game as well. Jared Bynum averages 9.4 points and leads Providence averaging 4.5 assist per game. 

The Providence Friars are by far the better team in this matchup but will get back on track Wednesday night. Look for Providence to use their talent and depth on both sides of the ball as they will overwhelm a bad Georgetown team.
