The George Mason Patriots are set to visit XFINITY Center in College Park, Maryland for a non-conference clash against the Maryland Terrapins. The George Mason Patriots come into this matchup with a 5-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds, 65-61. Leading the way for the George Mason Patriots was sophomore guard Jordan Miller as he recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds. Junior forward AJ Wilson had a productive all-around game for the Patriots as he pitched in 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The George Mason Patriots struggled shooting the ball against the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds as they connected on 16 of their 58 field goal attempts (27.6%), but they were slightly better from behind the three-point line (35%). The George Mason Patriots lost the turnover battle against the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds (10-7), but they dominated the Greyhounds in the rebounding department (51-32).

The Maryland Terrapins come into this matchup with a 4-0 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent home game against the Fairfield Stags, 74-55. Leading the way for the Maryland Terrapins was sophomore forward Jalen Smith as he recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore forward Ricky Lindo Jr. had a productive game off the bench for the Terrapins as he pitched in 13 points and 7 rebounds.

The Maryland Terrapins had a solid shooting game against the Fairfield Stags as they connected on 26 of their 59 field goal attempts (44.1%), but they were slightly worse from behind the three-point line (38.1%). The Maryland Terrapins won the turnover battle against the Fairfield Stags (16-8), but they edged out the Stags in the rebounding department (43-31).

Maryland is clearly the better team as they rank inside the top 10, but George Mason has kicked off the season with a 5-0 record and they have an abundance of talent that could compete with the top teams. The backcourt for George Mason has been amazing thus far as Jordan Miller (15.4 PPG), Jamal Hartwell II (13.2 PPG), and Javon Greene (13 PPG) are all contributing at a high-rate, and if they are able to find their stroke against Maryland, they will be in this game. The one downfall on George Mason is their lack of size, and that plays into the hands of Maryland as 6’10 forward Jalen Smith is one of the top in the nation. Jalen Smith will control the game like he usually does, but I expect George Mason to do enough to keep this game respectable. Final Score Prediction, Maryland Terrapins win but fail to cover ATS 77-65.
