The Fordham Rams travel on the road to John M. Belk Arena to take on the Davidson Flyers. Fordham has lost three in a row and four of their last five, the most recent dropping by 20 points on their home floor to drop to 1-5 on the year. Davidson has won two straight wins, the most recent on the road at Las Salle their last timeout winning 77-53 to improve to 8-5 on the year.

Fordham is statistically the nation’s worst offense averaging just 49.8 points per game, the Rams are 341st in pace and shoot just 34.5% from the field. Simply put, having 75.5% of their scoring returning from last season it hasn’t helped the Rams score the ball offensively at all this season as they have struggled to get anything going on that end.

Sophomore forward Joel Soriano is averaging a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards per game, he was a rotational guy last season but has been dominant this season shooting 61% from the field and leading the team in scoring and rebounding. Junior guard Chris Austin is averaging 11 points on 39.3% shooting and other than that it’s a struggling group.

Davidson is averaging 72.9 points per game ranking 161st in the country in scoring offense shooting 47.2% from the field. The Wildcats are shooting 25.9 threes per game, the 48th most attempts in the country and are 85th in the country making 36.2% of them.

Senior guard Kellan Grady is averaging a team-high 16.5 points per game and shooting 43.9% from the field. It’s a top-heavy scoring attack with four players averaging double-digits and lacking the role player contributions. Senior point guard Carter Collins has been solid dishing out a team-high 3.4 assists and adding 14.1 points per game.

Davidson has been a solid defense allowing 65.7 points per game ranking 69th in the country in scoring defense. Opposing teams are shooting 43.4% from the field and the Wildcats don’t make mistakes and limit second-chance opportunities. Davidson is 133rd in KenPom adjusted defense. Fordham is allowing 65.8 points per game ranking 74th in scoring defense and is 99th in KenPom adjusted defense.

Fordham plays solid defense, but they’re one of the worst offenses in college basketball and aren’t going to be able to keep with Dayton in this ball-game. The Flyers are solid on both ends and they are going to limit Fordham to almost no-points and put together a solid defensive effort to get the win and cover on their home floor. Final score prediction, Davidson wins and covers ATS 71-52.
