East Carolina at Cincinnati 1/19/20 - College Basketball Picks & Predictions

On Sunday, the East Carolina Pirates visit Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio for an American Athletic Conference tilt against the Cincinnati Bearcats. East Carolina fell to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in the AAC following its 65-49 lost at home to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Wednesday night. The Pirates were tied at halftime 30-all but scored just 19 points in the second half in part due to 22% shooting and missing all 15 of their 3-point attempts.

Jayden Gardner is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Pirates with averages of 21.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Tristen Newton is the leader in assists for East Carolina with an average of 3.6 per game. Gardner is the only player for East Carolina averaging double-figures in scoring.

Cincinnati dropped to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the AAC following its 60-49 loss on the road to the Memphis Tigers on Thursday. Although Cincinnati played even in the second half against the Tigers, the Bearcats could not make up a nine-point halftime deficit. The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Cincinnati over Memphis. Jarron Cumberland led the Bearcats in the loss with 19 points.

Jarron Cumberland is the leading scorer and the leader in assists for Cincinnati with averages of 13.7 points and 3.8 assists per game. Tre Scott is the leading rebounder for the Bearcats with an average of 9.0 per game. Cincinnati has three players averaging double-figures in scoring.

Cincinnati is coming off a disappointing loss to Memphis but the Bearcats had won two straight prior to that and 3 of their last 4 while covering the spread in 3 of those same 5. The Bearcats have faced a much tougher schedule including games versus Iowa, Xavier, Ohio State and UConn.  Homecourt will be the deciding factor in this AAC showdown.
